Okonomiyaki お好み焼

I love the dancing bonito flakes on top
I love the salty and sourish mayonnaise
I love the special sweet sauce
Okonomiyaki is something i fancy a lot.

DSC_1529

Bonito Flakes is dancing prettily on the hot pipping okonomiyaki.

I spotted this from a Taiwanese cooking TV show; the Taiwanese cook added in a lot of chopped scallion into it. Too much scallion for me and so I altered it to my own version :)

Simple, easy and healthy with lots of vege added.
You will love this if you love Takoyaki

Ingredients needed:
3/4 cup of low protein flour
1/2 cup of water
1 egg
cooked ham / bacon
Lots of cabbage
Chinese Chives (optional)
Carrot (optional)
Special Sweet Unagi Sauce / okonomiyaki sauce
Japanese Mayonnaise
Bonito Flakes

Mix the flour with water until smooth.
Then added in chopped cabbage, sliced carrot, chopped Chinese chives and mix well.
Lightly stir fry the cooked ham.
add the cooked ham into the mixed vege-batter and mix well.
Crack an egg into the batter and lightly mix (do not make until very evenly)
and you can now pan-fry them in the non stick pan with little oil.
when the bottom surface turn into golden colour, flip it over to cook another side.

When it is cooked in the pan, serve on a plate.
top it with the Unagi sauce (or okonomiyaki sauce).
Finally, serve with mayo and garnish with Bonito flakes

Molten Lava @ One Utama

IMG_0877

I found Churros at Molten Lava

IMG_0879

Churros
Tanned skin snack
Also known as Spanish doughnut
Thin and tall
Deep fried dough pastries
With the crunchy outside
And the spongy inside
That Served with melted chocolate sauce

IMG_0881

To me
Churros is quite similar to the Chinese You Tiao 油条

The differences,
You Tiao is fatter and come in twin
While
Churros is thin, pack and harder
And with crispy skin

Just a little disappointment,
The chocolate sauce served is not too rich and creamy.
I prefer something thicker and creamier.

The after lunch snack ---太子城特式枕头包

Time for a-after-lunch-Snack :)

This is a stall featured up on Chui Ling’s One Day Five Meals before. Mum and I purposely drove over and searched for it.

Look… Pumpkinsss

Their infamous bun --- Pumpkin Pillow Bun priced at RM 1.30.

The bun is soft and fluffy. The inner layer is abundant with pumpkin spread. The spread of pumpkin is at the right amount of sweetness. The sweetness was actually come from the fresh orangy pumpkin itself..

Besides wholemeal pumpkin, we had milk butter flavour. It was just okay for me.

I highly recommend their Wholemeal Pumpkin Pillow Bun (RM 1.30 per bun) which is healthier and Yummy with the thick spread of pumpkin.

Besides the wholemeal Pumpkin pillow bun, they do have others buns namely milk butter, pandan, blueberry, kaya, red bean, strawberry, green tea…

And also baos (in round shape) like chicken mushrooms, vege, petai, Mui Choy Kao Yok bun….

Click to enlarge for a look onto their menu and price.

Sweet But Healthy

It’s Time for something sweet but healthy.

This is actually a fruit that is not found in Malaysia. The fruit is available in China and it is known as 香瓜. How should I translate, fragrant fruit? I used the translator to translate it and it stated ‘muskmelon’. After running through Wikipedia, I found nothing from the muskmelon list that is similar to this fragrant fruit.

It tastes quite similar to the honeydew and looks kinda the same as honeydew. However, it is not honeydew. It is about the size of huge Fuji Apples or a little bigger than Fuji Apples. fragrant and very sweet. Available at all seasons in China but those produced during the summer is tastier.

My ‘Dairy’ need

Still afraid of the dairy products that produced from China after the Melamine cases that outbreak suddenly? Well, I am not. In fact, I feel the milk products are quite good. Ever since the melamine cases happened, the authorities have imposed stricter requirements and lab tests on them dairy products to ensure that the main ingredients and compositions are at the safety level.

I have a daily habit. I need to have a glass of milk or at least 250ml of milk every morning.
Hence, sis bought a carton (16 packs) of UHT milk to fulfill my ‘dairy’ needs. 蒙牛 Meng-Niu, brand of this milk is one of the famous brand.

The milk never lost its original taste. It tasted so Mooooooooo

When mum is back from BKK

Yay, she is back and brought us some goodies.

Coconut toffee is the best candy I have ever had. This is a must to buy if you travelled to Bangkok. I have tried a few different brands with the almost the same packaging (difference only in the colour paper they used and the brands). So far, this is the greatest of all. Every tiny piece of it is full with coconut essence! Yum!

Another things --- crispy cuttlefish. It’s so crunchy~

it's Snack time...

Have you ever notice the advertisement where there are ants, hidden and shout-out of the words ‘mini’?! Finally I discovered what they are. hehehe

They are actually Munchy’s Mini, the mini crackers which now made into cute tiny bit size that come in three different flavours --- peanut butter, cream cheese and chocolate cream. Priced at Rm 1.20 (I got from Watson when they were doing promotion in Sunway Pyramid) and there are 15 mini sandwich crackers.

Personally, I love the one with cream cheese a lot. Chocolate flavor not bad too. As for peanut butter flavor, haven’t tried yet. :P

I couldn’t update my blog regularly as I am working in day and there is still another paper for me to sit for in early-mid June *faint*. Please forgive me but I will try my best to update. Hence, all these mini munchy’s would be my all time favourite tit-bits no matter in the office or revising for that paper at home. *wink*

Simply snack

This would be a light post after all stressful days. Please forgive me if you found me not using really nice word to describe things. My brain works abnormally. Partly, it is greatly ‘damaged’ by the memorizing hard and partly, I need more rest.

While I was in Hartamas shopping centre, I found myself ‘treasure’ from Citi Super (I dun remember if spelled as City or Citi).

This Lotte Fondue is just Rm 2. (Sorry, I can’t read Korean. I guess Lotte Fondue is not the real name for this snack)

fancy the packing of Korean and Japanese products. They always have good printings, designs on the packing and that’s the way they ‘sell’ their products!

Café Latte Stick at the same price too. As compared to other supermarket, Citi Super offers some low-rate-items like Korean instant noodles, cookies.... at a great deal.

Another Lotte pineapple cream at just Rm 2.50.

Then while I was in Shojikiya, the Japanese Specialty store, I found this little cutie --- Snoopy Magnet. The staff put them on the must-go-out rack priced at Rm 2. I have them magneted on the fridge over my class schedule.

The month’s special, Organic green tea powder at… --- I forgot the price...
Anyway, I am now searching for recipe which I can use the powdered green tea.

いかピ一ナIka Peanut by Kasugai

This is what I love when I need a quick 2 minutes meal. Just pour the flakes over your white rice and mix. Fast, simple and easy.

Chelsea抹茶ミルク(matcha miruku) with カテキン (catechin) added and the right one yogurt scotch. Both are nice but I personally prefer the yogurt-flavoure candy. Priced at only Rm 2.90 which is 3ringgit cheaper than other supermarket.

什么丸意儿?!

I simply like the name of this snack ---什么丸意儿 (shen3 me4 wan2 yi4 er2). Creative and cute. These are attractive by means of the smallness and cuteness. And begin a frequently groceries shopper in Jusco like me, how would I miss out any new products on shelves and those eye-catching tiny booths set up for ‘free sampling’?!

Remember when the mini Mamee (maggi mee) newly introduced and got heat up years ago?! That snack was a convenient thingy to bring around, can eat it anytime, anywhere. This 什么丸意儿, is even tinier in shape. Just the finger bites size. It is Located on the shelf at non-halal section (around tinned luncheon meat).

Just pop them into your mouth! But do bear in mind with the high content of MSG. so, don’t take too much junk food.

Junkies

Tuesday --- 17July07

I was too lazy to move on this afternoon and planned to skip a 2-hour-class and sit at home. No idea why and I was just toooooo lazy. My youngest brother came home from school and ‘lau gai’ at me. He asked me to take him to Jusco, Maluri because he wanted to buy ‘food’ and milk as breakfast for a week. Yeah… the way he meant food is Junk food. I didn’t want to cz I was tooooo lazy. Couldn’t bear with him and since I have planned to skip the class, I listened to him and brought to Jusco.
Junkies junkies here I come.

Happy that mum was not around. Else, she wouldn’t let us to buy so many as all are Rubbish Food. But who can resist these? These were all selected by my glutton youngest bro and my task is --- eat. We both can finish these within 3days. I will just eat whatever he bought. *Munch munch*

Thank you Wen Ching, for this creamy milk hazelnut chocolate you bought from Langkawi. I finished them up all alone. It was too yummy and the moment I tore it open, I finished half by myself. Fattening lar~
