Happy farewell

Farewell, my beloved physiology lecturer ms. Wong. Today is her last day in uni. She will be going to… (erm, I dunno cz I never ask for details *hehe*) A very strict person she is but sweet and nice too.

I was in the kitchen again, baking some crunchy little cookies for her.

Ingredients:

Butter, eggs (I want the yolks only), cookies mix, chocolate chips, almonds, pumpkin kernels (both almonds and pumpkin kernels baked before added into the batter), cornflakes.

Bake at 180 °C for 20mins.

*ding-ding* freshly baked crunchy cookies.

And, jar-ed them up in a container.

Thanks for the wonderful lectures, Ms. Wong. To thank her, I must pass all papers in flying coloursss! So, Must strive hard in studies!

P.S. ~ sorry, another short short super short post again. My mind is stuffed with facts and texts from the notes. Aaaahhhh! 3 tests fall on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday respectively. *panic*

Blackberry green tea frappucino blended @ Starbucks

With the caption “Rediscover the love of green tea with a modern twist”, Starbucks is introducing new drinks again --- Blackberry green tea frappucino blended cream and green tea latte. (erm, are they new? I am not really sure since written –‘rediscovering’). But I was attracted by the eye-catchy poster and huge word ‘Green tea’ printed on it.

So, why not give it a try on their new drink?!

While Yum cha-ing with my 2 sistas on last Friday, I had myself a Blackberry green tea frappucino blended without cream. First sip, hmmm… weird… second sip, hmmm… okay. Third and so on… acceptable lar~

However, I didn’t really fancy the combination of blackberry with green tea. The candy-like-flavour concentrated blackberry syrup covered the green tea taste. Erm, what else can I say --- still acceptable.

One of my sistas had the classic mocha blended with cream while the other had just green tea. Hanging out in Starbucks is really costly, but I managed to get one of the sistas paying for my drink. *wink*

Caramelized Almond Crisp?!

I guess that’s the name for this? Mum and I were searching for almond crisp recipe for quite a long time. We love almond crisp a lot and we could only have it during Chinese New Year. Weird… almond crisp only on sale during CNY and the price is always a boom. My aunt who fancies this keeps bugging us to find out the recipe and make some for her.

So one day while mum and I were shopping in the cake ingredient shop, we saw the packets of icy white silky powder on the rack. BIENETTA (it stated in German). 200 g of bienetta + 300g of almond slice, line thin and bake. Looks simple. Hmmm, maybe that’s the almond crisp we were looking for?!

The end products~

Well, it was more like the Caramelized almond crisp than the almond crisps its own. Slightly sweet and crunchy, I like it. However, the bienetta (powder) is quite costly. Gonna take more efforts to find out the real recipe for almond crisp! ~

By the way, anyone knows what’s Bienetta?

A Birthday Treat @ Marmalade Cafe

Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to KHEE!!!

Yep, it was Khee’s 21st this year. Needless to say, being a ji mui(s) of hers, could I not celebrate the big day with her?! Me and Christine made plan for her big day. As khee loves cakes (especially cheese cakes) a lot, we have planned to bring her out for delicious cake.

***

Marmalade café, one of my favourite cafés, is as sweet as its name. Love the whitish of the interior with sweet loving and colourful image painted on the wall. Everything seems neat and bright which gimme a real home cosy feeling.

At time the 4 (Me, Christine, Yen and Khee) of us settled down, three of them just threw me the menu and asked me to gao dim. Huh! ~ I have not been to this place for times and this was my second visit. Haihz, my previous visit was not a good one, begin told not to take photo… sigh sigh, but I will still come for their good food especially dessert.

Hibiscus rose and Honey lemon lime homemade teas and the iced cappuccino.

Khee had herself a glass of iced cappuccino. She said it was a normal one, not as good as those in India. Haihz, she keeps telling us that the India’s coffee is very great and the aroma of the coffee is incomparable with those in Malaysia. Is that true??? I dunno. I must ask her to bring me some coffee bean or powder when she is coming back next year.
[P.S – Khee, remember this when you’ve read about this.]

As for me, I had the Hibiscus rose homemade tea which appeared in pinkish red, the flower buds brought out good smell of rose and well-mixed with the hibiscus which gave a sourish taste. Nice and I believe this is very good for the skin.
Christine had Honey lemon lime homemade tea which tastes sourish and good to sooth the throat. Yen had Chrysanthemum orange homemade tea which was aromatic and tasty too for this afternoon laid back feeling.

As for the main, we had the Sounds of Havana salad which is a delicious concoction of Chicken, pineapple, coconut salsa, peppers, cashew nuts and haloumi. It was refreshing and healthy.

Next was the Spaghetti smoked salmon which claimed a great feedback from 3 of them. This was creamy based spaghetti with slices of smoked salmon and alfafa. Simply delicious and very healthy.

I have seen a lot of customers ordered quiche during my previous visit. Being curiosity on how quiche tastes, hence, we had also Turkey and mushroom quiche. Oh-yum. This was creamy enough and there were lots of turkey and mushrooms. However, I think this should be shared among people. If took this individually, the capacity of stomach will be filled up and you wouldn’t have chance to try on their desserts.

Us~

Since Cupcakes from Marmalade seem to gain good feedbacks from other bloggers and Christine has been longing for cupcakes. So she chose the large Peanut butter cupcake with flowery peanut butter icing on top. Pretty but this failed to impress us. It was hard and texture was rather dry. Ewww… no good no good! Besides, the icing was sweet and the cake itself also super sweet. And this was so not worth at Rm 4.50. Very expansive! ~

Look at her reaction~
4 of us had just small bite-ful of it. We couldn’t finish it and it was too sweet to our liking.

Not to forget our main purpose here. The lighted up Blueberry yogurt cake for Khee.

Look at her. She playfully poured the yogurt over the cake.

The baked blueberry cheese cake topped with blueberry yogurt. This was heavenly good.
I have read through Da Wheel of Life & Happiness and this cake in the blog attracted me. *hehe* really yummy and irresistible. Each forkful were creamy cheesy baked.

Of course there is present for Khee too. She took a hard to time to guess it.

Just something useful for her in the future --- the pen torch light. It took us times to think of what to get her. Buying her a present is the hardest!

I really want them to try out the oreo cheesecake which is heavenly cheesy but we were all full after the lunch. Well, maybe next time.

Sausage bites @ Pizza Hut

This is a kinda back-dated post. My youngest brother had been bugging me to try out Pizza Hut’s dip-licious for quite some times. But I was all the time ignore his request. On one evening, I had just no-idea-why I brought both my brothers to Pizza Hut.

Since I had taken something at home before deciding our dinner at pizza hut, we ordered the Cheesy-bites dip-licious meal set 1. The set came along with 2 bowls of soup-of-the-day, 2 glasses of coke, garlic bread and the regular size of sausage bites dip-licious pizza with Hawaiian Supreme as the topping.

Soup-of-the-day and coke. Well, I don’t really fancy their chicken soup and it was quite ‘diluted’.

*hehe* we just love the parmesan cheese in our soup.

Here’s the garlic bread. Soft, fragrant and yummy. Best dipped with the creamy soup but I prefer mushroom soup to this chicken soup.

When the waiter introduced me the extra charges on something, I didn’t take it because I couldn’t hear what she was explaining (the place was really noisy and crowded at that time). I didn’t know that they actually charged extra Rm 3 for the cheese on the sausage bites.

The presentation of the pizza was nice but… it didn’t taste good. The sausage bites were rather hard and tasteless (just like the hard bread wrapped up with the normal frozen sausage). Another thing was that barbeque cheese dip had nothing special on it. The diluted cheese dips in orangy colour didn’t look good at all. It couldn’t compete with the creamy cheese fondue I had in Marche before. However, The Hawaiian Supreme pizza (the middle part) satisfied us.

Overall, we were satisfied with the service during dinner time. Our order came quick and well prepared fast. And I still find that it is the safest to choose classic types of pizza.

Sumo's Crispy Waffle

I went out for a movie with Khee last Tuesday in Jusco Cheras Selatan (JCS). Both of us did not have good appetite on full course meal. I myself was craving for something sugary. Hence I bought khee the Sumo’s Waffle where the small stall is located in the Jusco Arena Food Court.

Waffle at the price of Rm 2.50 each. Cheap!

Khee opted for the combination of kaya and butter while I had the chocolate and peanut butter (my all-time-favourite)!

I always like the waffle from Jusco (any Jusco) because the staffs are always generous to make a thick spread of chocolate and peanut butter on the waffle. The chocolate and peanut butter will melt on the warm crispy and crunchy waffle. Its taste was the combination of sweet chocolate and salty creamy peanut butter. It was really yummy but fattening. Rakuzen's Sunday Lunch Buffet

This was our first small-gathering after Khee is back from India for her holiday.

I drove over to Yen’s house for a meet-up and thanks to Chris for driving us to the dining place. Once Khee had herself into the car, she kept telling us that she was very tired, very sleepy, tired to talk to us and wanna sleep for a while. However, all along our journey traveled, she was the one who kept talking Non-Stop. Wasn’t she tired?!

The long awaiting day has yet arrived. 09 September 07 marked a memorable day for us. Believe us, for this gathering, me and Christine have planned it for a month. We have made the reservation 3 weeks ago. We were afraid of cannot-get-ourselves-seats without booking because this place would be crowded since it offers the only lunch buffet (from 12pm to 3pm) on Sunday.

Environment around and the Cutlery

The lunch buffet costs only RM 55++ per pax. We don’t have to walk around to get the food. What you have to do is read and select from the menu and order from the waiter. The waiter will serve you up the food in mini mini dishes right in front of you. Great, I could sit back and enjoy the cosy ambience while waiting for the food.

天ぷら盛合せ assorted Tempura. Like the pumpkin ^.^

茶碗蒸し Chawanmushi, the soft and smooth one

刺身盛合せ assorted sashimi --- there were tuna, salmon, white fish. They were all fresh and juicy.

うなぎ蒲焼 Roasted eel was great with their special sauce.

ソフトシャルクラブ手巻き Soft Shell Crab Handroll

ししゃも Grilled Smelt were delicious. There were whole stomach of roe in the fish.

チキン照り焼 Chicken Teriyaki, the meat was very tender

中華いいだこ Seasoned Baby Octopus, 中華珍味 Seasoned Scallop, and チリイカ Chilli Cuttlefish. We did actually ordered 中華くらげ Seasoned Jelly Fish but it never turned up!

揚げだし豆腐 Tofu Tempura with Sauce, tofu were very soft.

カルフオルニア巻きCalifornia Roll

白身魚 Shiromi, White fish

えびっ子寿司 Ebikko Sushi

中華わかめ Seasoned Seaweed was really appetizing

I am not really sure what this was. I have mixed up every pot. This should be 柳川鍋 Yanagawa Nabe ?!

すき焼き Beef in Sukiyaki-style looked appealing but I couldn’t take it. I tried this once while I was in Japan for Student Exchange Programme years ago. My host mother cooked me a great pan of Sukiyaki with lots of mushrooms (additional with a variety of fungi and vegetables) and beef. Love it~

厚焼き玉子 Japanese Omelette

枝豆 Edamame, Boiled Green Soybean

キムチ鍋 Kimuchi Soup-base Hot Pot with Seafood

サーモン鉄板焼き Salmon Teppanyaki was great too.

ソフトシャルクラブ Soft Shell Crab

抹茶アイス Green Tea Ice Cream. *hehe* I had 2 bowls of this (each bowl contained double scoops).

Overall, I was quite enjoyed the meal with my lovely friends and had wonderful ‘lessons’ from Eldrick (Yen’s darling) and Velix. A little dissatisfactory was that the food turned up rather slow and what I have ordered never turn up. I love Japanese food a lot and this place serves fresh and delicious Jap food.
