Uncle Jang Korean Restaurant @ Ampang

Remember I told you guys I had a fiery dinner before the "monopoly mission" in Nabe Bakery?!

DSC_0435

Thanks to Chris who discovered this restaurant from Uncle Jang's Facebook page. Together with kampungboycitygal, we were brought for an interesting but fiery dinner. haha...

Uncle Jang serves Dak Galbi (닭갈비); which is originated from Chun Cheon, Gangwon province. It is a popular south Korea dish that made by stir-frying the marinated diced chicken in Korean chilli paste (gochujang) based sauce, sliced cabbage, sweet potatoes, scallions, onions and tteok (rice cake) on a hot plate. In Korea, their Dak Galbi also includes cheese and ham.

Besides Dak Galbi, Uncle Jang also serves Samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup), Dakgyetang (kimchi chicken soup with rice) and Pork cutlet too.

We were there very early, that was why there was no sight of people. However, during the dinner time, the restaurant was crowded and almost 80% were the Koreans. One can choose to sit on the floor or chair and you will be served promptly.

Korean BBQ Seoul Garden @ Kuchai Entrepeuners Park

I love Fridays, always, as i get to hang out with my Makan Kaki for some real food and chilling out after some tough weekdays.

Kuchai Entrepreneur Park for its well known blooming food hub has now become our choice for food exploring.

IMG_4292

We chose to have some Korean delights, fix our tummies with some sourish kick kimchi, DdukBboggi and some grilled meat! Therefore, we had our dinner at Seoul Garden.

Samgyeop-sal (RM 15) - sliced pork fatback was something we longed for.

The lady will help you to do the grilling part. you can just sit back and enjoy your food while she is doing her task.

Bibimbap in hot pot (RM 18)

Haemul Ra-myen (RM 13) had nothing to shout about. It was just the Korean instant noodles with some added-in prawn and seaweeds. We can simply purchase the instant noodles and make this at home.

IMG_4267-1

Dduk-Bboggi (RM 15) was best to have it when it is still warm. She was too impatience to fork in the chewy rich cake while he was still busy paparazzi-ing it

IMG_4274

Kimchi-jeon (RM 25) the kimchi pancake made in a thicker batter. It seems to be our tradition to have the pancake every time when we dine in Korean restaurant.

Ohh, we got a complementary steamed egg in hot pot :)

Tastewise: they prefer NakWon to this. and i do love Daorae's BBQ stuff than here. The services provided were very good and attentive. besides that, it was quite comfortable to sit down for a chit chat and hang out and enjoy the food with friends and family.

Ko Hyang @ The Gardens

If you ever notice this place when shopping at Gardens, it is always packed with people; especially during lunch and dinner hours.

WHY??? It’s because of the GOOD FOOD that priced REASONABLY. The Price is ranging from RM 9.50 to RM 18.90 with free banchan (of 3) and a bowl of hot piping soup.

I was here with my girls – Chrisitine & Citygal after a wonderful shopping in Isetan. We ordered quite a lot and surprisingly, we finished up everything. (Ooops, that must be the post-shopping syndrome + finished up our energy) :P

IMG_2365

Bibimbap (RM 15.90), the Korean mixed rice comes with Namul (sautéed vegetables), gochujang (chili pepper paste) and a fried sunny egg. Mix and well blend all the ingredients with rice. Yum... We couldn’t resist the moist flavoured rice covered with every little of the Namul.

IMG_2370

Tteokbokki (RM 13.90) - the chewy rice cakes with spicy sauce. Remember to finish this when it is still hot. however, The tteoks hardens when they are no longer warm.

IMG_2375

Ojinguh Bokkuem (RM 16.90) – stir fried squid in spicy sauce is our favorite among all these. Stir fried with lots of onions and carrot slices to enhance the sweetness and freshness of the squid. <3

Kimchi Jeon (RM 9.50) was great and delicious too! The crispy edge and soft fluffy centre kimchi pancake is served best with the dipping sauce.

ShenZhen09 Day 4 Dinner: 正一味 @ Coco Park

Continue from ShenZhen09 Day 4 Lunch: 缪氏川菜

Dinner time!!! It’s a Korean meal this round. I know it is weird to have Korean food in China. But sis insisted what to do?!

We chose a Korean Restaurant which is located in a complex called Coco Park (if you are taking Metro, just stop by at 购物公园站 Gou-Wu-Gong-Yuan Station). This is quite a new complex with lots of young fashion namely Esprite, Only, Arnold Parmer, Nike, Adidas and many more; and a huge Jusco Supermarket; and a grand and classy Cinema theatre called Broadway Cinema 百老汇电影院.

We had our dinner earlier so that Sis and I were on time for a movie, Wolverine. Movie in this Broadway cinema is quite expensive, priced at RMB 80 per seat per person (about RM 40+ - normal seat). Expensive, right?! But the seats, the sounds system, the screen… everything are perfect :)

Back to this Korean Restaurant, 正一味 was crowded once dusk arrived.

The Kimchi soup appeared in a super large and generous portion. It was indeed appetizing and tasted sourish. The soup was loaded with kimchi and tofu. It was served in the real hig stone bowl to keep the soup warm throughout your dinner.

We shared the Bibimbap. It came with a variety of vegetables, meat and the Korean chili paste.
.

Mix well to create the perfect taste. Yum. It tasted just like the bibimbap I tried before in those Korean restaurants in KL.

I find that the people in China can really eat. Most of the tables were full with rice and vegetables. I’d noticed, even a table for 2 (a couple), they could actually have a kimchi soup and 2 bibimbap (one each). They can really eat! Besides, the food here is seriously cheap and extremely large in portion. For Kimchi Soup, Bibimbap and 2 cups of Tea were only less than RMB 45.

Chego @ Sunway Pyramid

This was the time when we celebrated my best-ie, WenChing’s birthday monthsss ago (sorry bout the delay). As there are quite a lot of new ‘hang-out’ shops in Sunway Pyramid, we chose to have a small lunch celebration here.

Chego, the Korean BBQ restaurant is newly opened and situated at lower ground of new area in Sunway Pyramid. Newly opened ma (at that time), let’s have a try lor. But this was not a pleasant experience for us.

We chose the side table where no shoes were allowed on the sitting area.

The Environment was full with sense of Korea.

We welcomed ourselves with the Korean soft drink. Each of us ordered the Korean soft drink at Rm 4.50 each. There were grape, crushed pear, and shikhye. Canned drink, we truly enjoyed this!

Ting fang opted for Hot Pot Kimchi Fried Rice , 石锅泡菜炒饭priced at Rm 13. She is the Korean craze who seriously crazy for kimchi.

I had the Hot Pot Chicken Bipim Bab,石锅饭(鸡肉)priced at Rm 15.

It was okay for me (well, I deno what comments to give as that was my very first time having Korean meal). However, the chili paste provided was not enough for my portion of bipim bab.

WenChing, the Star of the day had the Hot Pot Chicken Noodles,香辣鸡肉面 at Rm 15

Kimchi Soup Set, 香辣泡菜汤套餐 priced at Rm 24 that came a long with a few side dishes and a white rice was ordered by Esiong.

However, all these side dishes were UN-Refillable.

Bear in mind that, this restaurant does not provide free side dishes like Kimchi and others. If you want to try out their side dishes, you will have to order a la carte-ly or opt for those sets that come along with the side dishes. And, they do not have wide variety of side dishes. The worst thing was that their side dishes are UNREFILLABLE. This is totally very different from the other Korean restaurant in Ampang or Hartamas (told WenChing and Esiong who are both seriously fancy Jap and Korean cuisine).

The services provided were not that good. However, this wouldn’t affect our mission that day --- small little celebration for out best-ie

That’s from us, with lots of love.

The Farewell for Her ~

7 is an odd number.
7 is someone’s lucky number.
There are 7 days in a week

But, how can 3 + 1 = 7?!
Initially, 3 + 1 = 4
But I can make 3 + 1 = 7
We can make 3 + 1 = 7.

3 couples + me = 7
(Me, Chris & Christine, KampungboyCitygal, Sugar Bean)

That’s us; the 7 of us had a small little farewell gathering for Christine at Daorae Korean BBQ Restaurant (다오래). We spent the whole evening until all the customers left the restaurant.
As usual, we were the last to leave.

7 of us at a long dining table with 2 BBQ (not pit but) pan.
Daorae serves a wide variety of Korean dishes which made our citygal dunno what to choose. And finally… we had……..

Vege to wrap up the BBQ-ed meat.

A variety of sauces --- the fragrant sesame oil, sweet soy sauce, and also the feremented bean sauce…

Honestly, our dining table started to get a little ‘busy and messy’ with all the side dishes and dishes placed on it.

Part of the side dishes. There were a lot more, but I could manage these much.

I like this the most but they said this was extremely sour for them. Hence, I sapu all.

Seaweed

Another side dish I like, The radish cubes.

The complimentary seaweed soup.

Gal-bi-tang which was the popular favorite mild and light beef rib soup served with rice. As for the taste, you have to ask those who can take beef --- all but not me and WenChing. From what they said, it was warm, it was nice and it tasted just right that could really soothe their empty stomachs!

I am a little blurry here and don’t know which is which now.

Sam-kyub-sal which was the thin slices of belly pork without marinade, served with seasoned sesame oil sauce.

Daeji Gal-bi, the choice pork ribs specially hand filleted, marinated in the house’s special sweet soy sauce

Dak-gal-bi, the lean skinless chicken fillets marinated in their hot chili sauce.

Yang-nyum Yang-go-gi came with choices of cuts lamb specially hand filleted, marianated in their house’s special sweet soy sauce. I adored it a lot! Yum~

Kimchi-jeon, the spicy, savory pancake comprising of kimchi tossed in light butter, pan fried to perfection. However, it was a little too thick and too floury for me.

Pa-jeon for us. It was very good in the thin slices and tasted great with the dipping sauce.

Kimchi Kong Na Mul Guk, the kimchi and bean sprout in dried Pollack meat soup served with rice. It was light and neither oily nor greasy. This is best for someone who doesn’t want their stomach to be burden up.

What’s more when dining with this bunch of lovely friends?! S-H-O-J-U for us! Yum Seng lar werrr

Happy farewell to our dearest Christine! ~

I said 3 + 1 = 7 but there are 8 people in the photo?! Yep, we bumped into ekeng. What a coincidence. He was having his dinner with his girl friends :P
