Macau Tsui Yuen Cafe @ Mongkok, HK

Travelling with Citygal is always fun. She is just like the place's dei tao chong 地头虫 a.k.a. "neighbourhood worm". I enjoyed my trip with her, relaxingly. She did all the research beforehand, planned everything and... I just followed :P

That was the evening after the afternoon tea at Paul Lafayet.

We toured like what the other tourists would do...

The Avenue of Stars located along the Victoria harbour waterfront in Tsim Tsa Tsui. More than 100 actors were honoured along the stars.

And then we enjoyed a Symphony of Lights along the Avenue of Stars started sharp at 8pm (daily) and last for about 10 minutes. Be here earlier to get the great seats/view.

Australia Dairy Company 澳洲牛奶公司 @ Jordan, Hong Kong

DSC_0294

That was early, very early in the morning and the queue was already this long.

DSC_0290

We purposely woke up early for this.
Yes, to 澳洲牛奶公司 Australia Dairy Company, the number 1 restaurant in openrice.com 's best restaurant list, voted by the Hong Kies themselves.

Though the queue was long, it took us a short time to get in. Patrons walked in and out every minute; and we knew, we must "move fast and eat fast" too - that's the fast pace lifestyle and culture of HK people. Tea were served once we were seated, it can be used to wash the utensils as well as for drinking purposes (just like what they did in char chan teng we can watch from those TVB drama).

Causeway Bay Spicy Crab @ Desa Sri Hartamas

Typhoon Shelter Crab 避风塘辣蟹 is something we can only see from TVB dramas or HK movies; we can only drool in front of the TV...

or we can head to Causeway Bay for it?!

but... Causeway Bay is located in Hong Kong...  :(

***

Good news is that right now, we can find Causeway Bay Spicy Crab 铜锣湾辣蟹莊 here in Desa Sri Hartamas. Hooray...

causeway bay

Glad that Causeway Bay Spicy Crab 铜锣湾辣蟹莊 (from HK) has chosen to open its door in KL. Thanks to Soo Ting and Eric for a wonderful lunch over. It was a great dining experience at Causeway Bay Spicy Crab. We got to try a few lip smacking dishes as well as the famous crab dishes from HK.

Hide n' Seek; I'm hidden, look for me

Typhoon Shelter "Bei Fung Thong" Crab
Authentic HK Garlic & Chili Crab 正宗避风塘辣蟹 (RM 68)
The crabs hidden in lots of deep fried garlic that blended well with the scallion and red chilies. You can always opt for the degree of spiciness you prefer - mild, moderate, spicy or very spicy. We had the medium spiciness for our crab. huuuulala, it was really fragrantly hot and spicy!

Baked Crab with Salted Egg Yolk 流沙黄金蟹 (RM 68)
A different version of baked crab with salted egg yolk as compared to what we used to have (the wetter salted egg yolk version). This one from Causeway Bay Spicy Crab is loaded with crunchy salted egg yolk globules. I love munching the rice bubble-liked globules that infufsed with strong salted egg yolk taste.

Calorie @ Sri Petaling

What can you do with pumpkin?!
We can have pumpkin tofu, pumpkin porridge, pumpkin steamboat, pumpkin desserts…. And also pumpkin fried rice.

IMG_0572

Calorie is like the other Hong Kong Char Chan Teng; selling bun, burger, toast, soup noodles and rice, etc. Calorie is famous for their pumpkin fried rice. Their signature dish is the pork chop with pumpkin where the fried rice is served in the craft real pumpkin ‘bowl’.

I saw this place featured on 8TV Ho Chak programme and decided a visit with youngest brother.

We ordered papaya milk (RM3.90) and a pineapple and lemon juice (RM4.90) to quench our thirst. The papaya milk was a right choice while the pineapple and lemon juice is overpriced. One can just simply make it at home.

Pumpkin is always our love. We ordered the Cheese Pork Chop with Pumpkin.

IMG_0564

It took them some times to prepare this in the oven. Have a look, the melted cheese over loaded on top of the fried rice and the pumpkin’s skin is baked into dried but golden brown.

Cheesy-licious

The pumpkin fried rice was fluffy but lack of wok hei and tad dry. We loved the baked pumpkin very much; finished up everything and left only the pumpkin skin.

Have a try if you are a pumpkin lover. Want to know more what’s on their menu?! Visit HERE.

Memorable Birthday 09 Part 4: the blast @ Wong Kok Char Chan Teng

Continue from Memorable Birthday 09 Part 3: Mini Uhu! Hu! from The Loaf @ Pavilion KL

*Note: this is a 7-month-ago story*

They, who were just had their trip in Cameron Highland, drove by my house.
They, who were really tired after their trip, dragged me out
They, who dragged me out, wanted my ID
They, who wanted my ID, to claim the super gigantic Milk Tea

And yes, we were at Wong Kok Char Chan Teng for the birthday blast.

We had a simple dinner at Wong Kok. Not many photos I could take as my friends started to ‘swallow’ food as soon as the food were in front of them.
And here, I will just let the photos do the talking.

This blast was incredible. Thanks for the cakes and dragging me out for this wonderful celebration. Knew you guys were tired after the long trip. And sorry for such a late review. :P

PS: and never say i never blog about you guys, tag on you guys :P

Hong Kong Miu Kai @ Seri Petaling

Craving for Polo Bun?! There is one place selling one of the best Polo Bun --- Hong Kong Miu Kai which is highly recommended by Sugar Bean. Located in Seri Petaling, Hong Kong Miu Kai is selling a variety of pastry besides serving food like the ordinary Char Chan Teng such as Wong Kok and Kim Gary.

Fresh baked Polo Bun(s). They are selling out like a piece of hot cakes. Wen Ching from Sugar Bean told me, she has been here for a few times and this was the second time she grabbed this. One advice from her, never come here after dinner as you will be going home with empty hands.

Look, there is a handful of custard as the core centre. Besides the custard flavor, they do have Yam (and others) too. The custard flavor is the best among all.
