Ole-Ole Bali @ Mon’t Kiara

Food bonds us together.
Food brings us the new friendship.
Food has become the middle man of our friendship.

September 15 marks our friendship day. We had a celebration 2 weeks earlier so that Sugar could join us before leaving to UK again. This year, our Annual Friendship Day was at Ole Ole Bali with the theme ‘Bali’. Let see how ‘Balinese’ were we?

Ole Ole Bali is located at Mon’t Kiara; A Balinese theme restaurant that serves a variety authentic Balinese Cuisine.

I adore the ambiance of this restaurant. The indoor is dimly lit; the décor, wood carvings, paintings and sculptures are well themed.

Due to a poor quality camera I had, I found it hard to capture under this dim light. For more indoor, décors and a-look-around-Ole-Ole-Bali’s photos, please view KampungBoyCityGal and Chris&Christine’s blog.

Barley Lime at RM 18 per jug was enough to feed 6 of us.

Ole-Ole Trio at RM 38. A platter that comes with Ole-Ole BBQ Chicken Wings, Sate Lilit and Cumi-Cumi Goreng; served with Sambel Matah, Sambel Terasi and Tartar Sauce. This is an ideal snack for the drinkers. Cumu-Cumi Goreng is actually the fried squid while Sate Lilit is the satay-liked seafood on a lemongrass skewer.

I find the Sate Lilit is a little fiery and spicy. Glad to have the glass of Barley Lime to cool me down.

Nasi Campur Ole-Ole at RM 33. The combination of Balinese Grilled Lemongrass Prawns, Squid, Fish, choice of Beef or Chicken Rendang and Sate Lilit, served with Lawar, Sambal Terasi and Sambal Matah. Love the little char-burned Squid. It was neither rubbery nor dry. The squid was still fresh and juicy. We had 2 plates with the choice of Beef and Chicken Rendang each for the 2 couples.

.Tipat Cantuk
at RM 13. It is the Balinese warm Vegerable Salad with Tofu, Rice Cake, Prawns and Hard Boiled Egg and served with Tamarind Peanut sauce.

I woke up at 5am for this.
Happy Friendship Day to US

We can never forget the Esiong, the bean who was in Cardiff at that time. Sugar brought this along for a replacement. This year, The Bean won the most Balinese-style award.
(I stole this photo from KBCG, thanks ya! :P)

Ai Wei, forgot to tell you, next time when you bake cotton cheese cake, dont need to line the side of the pan, I just tried today, it work, you just use a plastic knife or spatula to cut the side of the pan, the cake can easily remove. But remember to place paper on the bottom of the pan and also do not use non-stick pan. Try again..
