Jade Pot Steamboat Restaurant 一品锅 @ Old Klang Road

What is best during the rainy day???

STEAMBOAT!!!

DSC_0703

It was a raining evening and we thought it would be great to warm our tummies with some hot piping food. Hence, we chose to have steamboat at Jade Pot Steamboat Restaurant 一品锅, Old Klang Road.

This has become their favourite place for steamboat since not long ago and recommended it to us.

It says: Spent more than RM 50 and above on Dim Sum, you are entitled 20% discount (except Sunday and public holiday) / Spend more than RM50 on steamboat, you're entitled a 10% discount voucher on your next visit.

Since there were 5 of us, we ordered their set meal for 4 which is priced at RM 89.80+ and asked for the conversion of normal Yee Mee (egg noodles) to the springy Hong Kong Yee Mee at an additional of RM 1.50 charge.

Soup wise, you can choose to have their ABC Soup, Tom Yum, Fish Head with Yam or Shark Bone's Soup.

We chose to have their Fish Head and Yam Soup since the Shark Bone's Soup was not available that evening. The soup was really thick and flavourful and we found that the soup was MSG-less.

The 4 person set came with assortments of fish balls, dumplings, sotong balls, fried dumplings, stuffed tofu, prawns, pork slices, enoki mushrooms, and various types of vegetables.

One of the starter we had. something to do with bacon (sorry, can't remember its exact name)

Deep fried chicken wings with lemongrass were not good looking when served. Appeared to be dark in colour and we thought they were burnt. To our surprise, the chicken wings were well marinated, good and juicy.

Family Mixed Set (RM 49.90) came with 4 bowls of white rice that were enough to feed the 5 of us. The ingredients included beef (we had it substituted with pork slices), pork, lamb, chicken, squids, bacon, jelly fish as well as salmon. Others were the cabbages, lettuce, fish noodles, fish cake, tofu pok, carrots and mushrooms.

We love 'cooking' our food, and feed one another :)
Here is a place for you to enjoy the cooking, 'proud' up with your 'cooking skill' as well as a get-together with friends and family.

Last but not least, we then traveled a few floors up for Yokomon Japanese Ice Cream. Quite a surprise that it has actually relocated to a more visible area near the escalator. But... no more seats available for us to rest our feet and we had to stand at one side scooping the ice cream.

Matcha and Goma, priced at RM 5 per cup. Errrr, we found it weird to have our Goma Ice taste like Azuki?!?!?! or there was something wrong with my taste buds?!

We ordered quite a lot meaty plates such as lamb slices, pork slices, beef slices羊腿肉... golden needle mushroom, pumpkin slices, yam sticks, cold bean curd 冻豆腐, bak choi 白菜, handmade noodles 手打面... The pumpkin slices and yam sticks were really delicious after being sometimes in the boiling broth, and i love my meaty slices in the hot and spicy ma lat soup.

3. The Celebration

and now, i present The Zhi&i which I have thought for days to weeks. It was actually the feather light cheesecake but I have done some alteration on the ingredients and methods and modified the recipe into Zhi&i.

When mum is out of town 3: Steamboat

What is good for a cool rainy day?! STEAMBOAT will be my answer.

Eh??? This doesn’t seem like a place for steam boat?! Having Steamboat in the world of dim sum restaurant?! Yes, that’s true! Actually this restaurant is meant for dim sum (in the morning) and steamboat at night.

It is located quite a hidden place in Taman Bukit Anggerik / any Taman around there. I don’t exactly know the Taman in this area as there is a lot of Taman ‘mushrooms’ up.

Fried chicken wings as appetizer. They are well marinated. It’s so fingers licking good!

Me and 2 bros ordered a set for 2 which comprised the fish balls, dumplings, prawns, fish noodles, fried yam, crabstick, those other common ingredients for steamboat and lots of vegetables. The biggest surprise is, they serve fried yam sticks! That was my very first time having fried yam sticks in the big bowl of boiling soup. It tasted superb after soaking up the essence from the soup!

.

.

The next surprise --- the soup! 猪骨汤. This is the greatest steamboat broth I ever had. Usually those we get from others are spicy tom yum soup and the slightly seasoned water as their ‘soup’. The broth which is lightly seasoned with black pepper will definitely make you to go for more! Slurp!
