Blueberry Cheese Tart

I made it! I made it! I made it! Anyone wants?!

*Happy*

For the whole afternoon, I was experimenting and playing with this new recipe which I got from a Chinese newspaper. I have bought the ingredients in mid of last month and finally I have time for this new recipe. I have made about 12 pieces and the ingredients were cost less than Rm12 while out there selling Rm2 to 2.30 per piece.

Before removing the tarts from the mould.

I was a bit greedy. I have put a bit too much of the cream cheese mixture into each tart base. There seemed to have bit over filling. Next time I will reduce the filling for each and this means that I can make more tarts with the extra fillings.

I love this. It tasted so cheesy and the base and fillings were cooked just nice.

Recipe for blueberry cheese tart
Ingredients:

Tart base:
Flour 180g
Milk powder 15g
Castor sugar 30g
Butter 100g
Egg 1

Tart fillings A:
Cream cheese 250g
Castor sugar 60g
Butter 25g

Tart fillings B:
Lemon essence few drops
Blueberry filling sauce few

Steps:
1. Firstly, beat the tart base’s ingredients smoothly into dough.
2. Then separate them into small portions and place inside the moulds according to the shape of the moulds.
3. Next, use a fork to poke all over the base and send them into the oven. Bake at 150 °C for 10minutes.
4. beat the ingredients Tart fillings A into fluffy and smooth. Then add in a few drops of lemon essence.
5. Place the filling into each tart base at about 90% full. Add on a little Blueberry filling sauce. Use a toothpick to mix up the blueberry and the cream cheese. You may make some drawing as well.
6. Lastly, place the tart into the oven again and bake at 180 °C for 15minutes.

Leong Ya Yong Thau Foo, Serdang

So, where should I start?! This morning woke up early cz my dad has asked us to have a nice breakfast yesterday. Actually I woke up early but dad and brother were not and our breakfast has become brunch. Dad wanna try around Serdang area and so happened that we saw this restaurant in a business area when we took the turn.

Many many years ago (before it was relocated), we used to go there always, Leong Ya Yong Thau Foo Restaurant. They served delicious Ji Bao Gai (deep fried chicken wrapped with paper). I always love Ji Bao Gai. After many many years, we once went in and tried out to see whether they still maintain their standard.

We were there at 10am and we were the first customers. It was still empty cz they were just opened up their shop for business at that time.

Firstly served was Yong Tau Foo (chilies, lady fingers, foo zhouk, dao foo bok, eggplants, tofu stuffed with fish paste). Altogether 15 pieces here. And yummy… they were great. Just that the fried foo zhouk were too oily and I dislike like it. I like the eggplant and tofu.
Ji Bao Gai (deep fried chicken wrapped with paper).

Sad was that they were using chicken breast and there were too much gravy and the gravy was rather salty.

Yin Yong noodles. A rather tasteless dish. They can’t really maintain the standard they used to be.

Friendster Cafe, Damansara Perdana

Since last year December, Ting Fang has suggested that there is a café in Damansara Perdana which seems nice and recommended by her friend. We both have never gone too far from KL and the furthest we went is One Utama. Hence, today we decided to take a risk to try out this new café. With the help of Ting Fang’s friend hand-drew map, we finally reached Damansara Perdana. I felt as though I was one of the historians who discovered a whole new land. Hooray, I found a new place. Kekeke.

There are few pretty nice boutiques around and we planned to check them out before we take our lunch. Therefore, we visited each boutique to check out their pretty up-to-date outfits. I have never thought that we have spent hours and hours in the boutiques. We spent about an hour in Miss K boutique. The decoration of the boutique is warm and sweet and the outfits they sold are pretty nice but we went out in empty-handed. Next, we stopped by at Cat Whisker and I have no idea why on earth we spent 2 hours in that boutique. We both spent on something and I hurried warned Fang to get out of the shop soon. Else I would not stop buying. >.<

The menu and their lunch set menu

The environment in the café

How adorable these cute little pepper and salt bottles are.

They have a variety of dishes from Asian to Western. The Lunch set menu looks great to me so I had a set 4 and Fang took set 1. Each of the set comes with ice or hot tea or coffee. And we added on their dessert of the day at Rm 3.

Here were our ice coffee and the sugar liquid is provided for us to add it up followed our tastes.

Here was Fang’s set 1, Aglio Oglio Spaghetti with Mushroom, Basil leaf, Garlic and Norwegian Salmon at Rm 10.90. the waiter claimed that this was their new creation and The dish tasted great and smelled aromatically with basil leaf and other herbs. The grilled salmon was nice. However, ting fang finds the portion was small.

Here was my set 1, Pan Fried John Dorry with Mashed Potato and Creamy Basil sauce at Rm 9.90. Yum~ it was very creamy and I loved this dish a lot!

A full meal is not complete without dessert. After main course, we took the friendster dessert of the day. Let see what we got

Red bean pudding which topped with whipped cream and cherry and garnished with chocolate syrup and crunch peanuts. The pudding tastes nice and creamy. Too bad, the peanut spoilt the whole thing. The peanuts berbau tengik.

After the lunch, we went over to a boutique, Baby Doll next door. Gosh, I spent again…. Oh no… … Ting Fang, why you wanna bring me to such nice place?! Anyway, it is such place to shop and definitely I will revisit this area again cz we left out another boutique…besides, friendster café serves good food and the services are great. The staff are helpful and polite~

Best of all, I discovered a new place to dine and to shop! Wheeeeeeee!!!

Tykoh Inagiku, Menara Kuan Seng

Read on Sugar Bean made me wanna write a post on my friend, Wen Ching bought me a birthday dinner in this fine dining Japanese restaurant, Tykoh Inagiku. It was my first visit there on my birthday in January which was half year ago (aiks… so late only make this post).

This fine dining Japanese restaurant situated in Menara Kuan Seng which is just next to Starhill Gallery. And I agreed with Sugar Bean that this is really the best Japanese restaurant in KL. They provide fresh ingredients and mostly are aired from Japan.

The small square bowl contain fermented carrot (if not mistaken)

Here was the appetizer, fried oyster (sorry, I have no idea on its Japanese’s name for this dish) which was recommended by Wen Ching. First time trying out friend oyster and they were really juicy. Its juice spouted out once you bite on it. Thumb up for this dish.

This was Ishiyaki Kaisen Sanshoku, a combination of 3 types of seafood which are ikura (salmon roe), uni (sea urchin) and fish cooked with rice on a heated hot stone. [Stole from Sugar Bean] I love the ‘burnt’ rice because it was very crispy. And I myself loved that Uni a lot!

Here was the seafood udon with crab and fish and…. I can’t remember what it contained in this dish. Hehehe… the soup tasted fresh seafood and sweet.

Here was the dessert. The goma (black sesame) ice cream. This was the best goma ice cream I have ever tasted.

I was very happy with this meal. Look at this, whole table with mouth-watering dishes. we both were very full after the dinner. Thanks Wen Ching for such wonderful dinner. Thanks thanks. And it was such a memorable moment celebrating birthday with my best friend.

work on Pre-Exhibition

Another job, another exhibition and yep, I have finished my job for this another exhibition. Miccos 07, the Malaysia International Commodity Conference & Showcase 2007 is held in PWTC on 3rd July to 8th July, from 9am to 9pm. I was there for the pre-exhibition work from Cityneon and it was indeed another pretty challenging task. I’d enjoyed it a lot but too bad that environment there was not as great as the time while I was in KL convention centre. We could not enjoy air-con there and no pretty counter for us to sit and no pretty scenery too.

Sigh… There will be a lot of pretty well-decorated booths on the show day but I worked on pre-exhibition only. So, I am going to miss out those pretty decorated booth. Besides that some of the booths are selling food and stuff. From what I saw, one of the booths opens up a chocolate stall and named as Koko Bistro. They are selling chocolate, beverages, variety of mousse and cakes and cookies. See, I miss out all these sweet food again. Sigh sigh sigh…

Besides that, the decoration in the timber sector is another pretty area. You will be amazed with their hard works on building up from the plain ground to beautiful small houses and even have a garden with ponds and bridge. They have only less than 24 hours to finish up their works. It was like ‘wow’ once I saw it. Just Too bad that I can’t enjoy their marvelous creations on the exhibition day. Sigh sigh sigh… (sorry, no pics on this)

Kekeke, it was fun working with Ting Fang. I dragged her up to work with me so I won’t be alone. We both chatted a lot, giggled a lot because I kept telling her the same thing over and over again. [Fang, you know what is that] I think she will feel irritating and very fan with that. Kekeke. Hope you don’t mine. Happy working together, fang.
