The Hokkaido Red Bean Paste is made from premium air flown Hokkaido Red Bean.

Japanese Green Tea Ice Cream is bittery in taste while the Azuki Red Bean Paste is slightly sweeter than we thought. Once you have both of them together, it turns out to be the perfect combination. The sweetness of Azuki brings out the fragrant green tea from the Ice Cream. And the Azuki is no longer that sweet. Moreover, the Ice Cream is low in fat! No… they are made of juices of blended fresh vege.

Opt for
White – for the original normal version
Green – from Spinach
Purple – from Sweet Potato
Yellow – from Pumpkin
Orange – from capsicum

I am a pumpkin lover so I had a bowl of yellow Pan Mee.

The broth was clear, light and flavourful. Their signature dish is the pork chop with pumpkin where the fried rice is served in the craft real pumpkin ‘bowl’.

I saw this place featured on 8TV Ho Chak programme and decided a visit with youngest brother.

We ordered papaya milk (RM3.90) and a pineapple and lemon juice (RM4.90) to quench our thirst. The papaya milk was a right choice while the pineapple and lemon juice is overpriced. I told myself I need a break; a break from all those hormones and endocrine systems, a time off from how to reduce the size particles and the machines used. Huh…!

I had an afternoon tea set (starts from 2 to 4pm) at only RM 10.90 which comes with a cup of coffee or English tea and a slice of cake of your choice except 3 or 4 listed.

A cuppa of fresh brewed coffee was my choice. It was actually the American cheesecake (if not mistaken) topped with a layer of blueberry jam. The cake was rich and cheesy. Cheesecake lovers, you will love it! ~

Was I enjoying a ‘tai-tai’ lifestyle at that time? No… I was busy stuffing my tiny-little-useless-brain with new terms; while taking little forkfuls of cheesecake that was trying to stimulate the brain to function. Sigh…

Will make another return for more cakes…

Ole-Ole Bali @ Mon’t Kiara

Food bonds us together.
Food brings us the new friendship.
Food has become the middle man of our friendship.

September 15 marks our friendship day. Let see how ‘Balinese’ were we?

Cute message cards prepared by Chris & Christine with love.

.

And a Scrap Book on us. Cumu-Cumi Goreng is actually the fried squid while Sate Lilit is the satay-liked seafood on a lemongrass skewer.

I find the Sate Lilit is a little fiery and spicy. (Please correct me if I am wrong). It is located behind the Gleneagles Hospital on Jalan Ampang, KL.

It was a unique and special dining experience I had where they have performances such as dancing, singing and musical play played by the pretty Korean waitress themselves. Glad that aunt dragged me along. This dinner wasn’t just an ordinary dinner. It enhanced my knowledge on North Korean’s tradition and cultures.

As this was a back dated post, I wasn’t too sure with the name for every dish. Like the glass noodles, stewed chicken, stirred fried mushrooms and the soup version of meat balls, they are light and not spicy, not oily, not greasy, no colorants.

A great place for an extraordinary dining experience!

Pyong Yang Restaurant
290A, Lorong Palas,
Off Jalan Ampang,
50450 Kuala Lumpur.
(Located right behind BHP Petrol Station)

Tel: 03-42579986
Business hours:
11.30am – 10.30pm (daily)

The after lunch snack ---太子城特式枕头包

Time for a-after-lunch-Snack :)

This is a stall featured up on Chui Ling’s One Day Five Meals before. The inner layer is abundant with pumpkin spread. The spread of pumpkin is at the right amount of sweetness. The sweetness was actually come from the fresh orangy pumpkin itself..

Besides wholemeal pumpkin, we had milk butter flavour. It was a great lunch and we actually ohhh-ed and aahhh-ed over the lunch. It is a kind of tea that made of butter, salt, tea leaves and to be consumed once it is made and while it is still warm.

The buttery, greasy and creamy Exotic Tibetan Tea. The Tibetans have this as part of their daily requirement as it keeps them warm living at high altitude.

Kechara Salad (RM 38) comes with regular portion. A refreshing dish that tastes so-alike-like the Yu Sang we use to have during Chinese New Year.

5 Mandala of Prosperity (RM 58 for small portion) mimics the 4 or 5 seasons we used to have in the wedding ceremony. It comes with butter mushrooms, BBQ skewered ‘pork’, luncheon ‘meat’, Vietnamese Spring Rolls and stir fried beans with lily bulbs. We kept guessing, how they made the meat into real meat texture?!

Tibetan Vegetable Momo (RM 21) is the steamed and pan fried Tibetan or Nepalese dumplings. Personally, I heart this because of the buttery taste of the dumpling skin. The dumpling was juicy and the vege inside was fresh.

Yu Xiang Egg Plant (RM 20 for regular portion) is great too. Just like what normally my mum cooks this at home. It was loaded with minced ‘meat’ and dense and flavoured with chilies.

Golden Pocket with Broccoli priced at RM 20 was a good try. The golden pocket was flavourful and abundant with minced ‘meat’ filling. They were nicely wrapped and poured with the special gravy cooked with gei zi.

Vietnamese Spring Rolls (RM 13.80), the crispy and crunchy one.

Fish Head Meehoon priced at RM 20 for this big bowl.

I find this lack of sourish taste as compared to the hawkers’ type. However, according to the restaurant manager, the sourish taste comes from the sour plum itself. The sour plum has its natural nutrients and this mild sourish will not directly damage to the wall of stomach even if you had this whole bowl.

Last but not least from the main courses, we were wow-ed with their Kechara Oasis Fried Chicken (RM 17). It was surprisingly great!!!

KOC in short has the texture so much similar or exactly the same as fried chicken. Some of the customers even said KOC is way more delicious than K*C (you know which). Why not head to Kechara Oasis and try it yourself?

Who says there isn’t any good selection of desserts in Vegetarian Cuisine?!

We tried on the Crystal Fruit dessert (RM 10). The little and cute tiny crystal layer with orange-y custard fillings in it.

And Red Bean Banana Roll (RM 10). Red bean paste and banana slice inside and finally the roll is dusted with icing sugar and rolled over.

I prefer the red bean banana roll to crystal fruit dessert. The red bean banana roll is indeed a flavourul sweet tooth with real sweet banana taste.

Now, I must change my mind towards Vegetarian Food. It is not for vegetarian only. It is for everyone (Vegetarian, Non vegetarian) and even our Muslim friends (as Kechara Oasis has obtained the HALAL certificate). It is not some kind of food that you can have it only on chor yat sap hmm. You can even have it every day till you tried up all of them from the menu (they keep on experimenting on new recipe/ dishes). I must admit, their menu is quite appealing :)

Kechara Oasis
Unit 19-LG1, Level B1
Block D Jaya One,
No. 72A Jalan University,
46200 Petaling Jaya,
Selangor.

Tel: 03- 79681818
Fax: 03- 79688118

More reviews at:-
KampungBoyCityGal
Vkeong

Dessert's Bar @ Casa Tropicana, PJ

When it comes to desserts, those who are on diet might say… No… not desserts again or some might even want to close this window/ tab. Where you can chat with your friends, get together with your not-so-frequently-contact friends, having big Birthday blasts, eat eat eat and drink drink drink.

This is my last and final episode of Memorable Birthday 09. I had a small sweet Lunch with another best-ies at Dome, KLCC. Looking for a table wasn’t that easy especially it is the time for lunch during weekdays. OL and office staffs had overflowed the restaurant. Hence, We had to queue up for a table

As I said, it was a sweet lunch, we ordered ourselves the Yummy Desserts.

Vienna is something my best-ie loves a lot. She had it. Vienna from Dome is actually a single shot of espresso infusion, topped up with hot water and finished off with fresh whipped cream and a dusting of chocolate. It’s so Vienna!

I had the Hot Chocolate which was actually a shot of Dome drinking chocolate topped up with gently steamed milk and finally dusted with chocolate. There was an additional piece of marshmallow that gave a boost of sweetness to my cup of hot chocolate!

Chocolate Mousse Cake was the chocolate mousse between the layers of chocolate fudge cake. It was covered in a rich chocolate ganache and hazelnut praline. This was so chocolicious and we actually licked clean the chocolate left on the plate.

Black & Tan was actually new on the menu (seven months ago. unsure if they added on or deleted this from the menu). It was the moist dark chocolate cake coated with tangy cream cheese froasting. And finally topped and decorated with chocolate chips. The cream cheese frosting was quite a refreshing one and went well with the dark chocolate cake.

Guess I had a wonderful, Lovely Chocolicious Sweet Lunch.

Here is the end of my Memorable Birthday 09 celebration. The huge portion of vegetarian dish came with abundant of mushrooms, dried bean curd, broccolis, carrots, baby corns…. Additional of Gei Zi and Red Dates boost up the sweetness of this dish.

Fresh Water Prawn with Special Sauce (RM 135 per kg) that topped with handful of chips was sourish + appetizing.

Every mouthful of prawn was ‘lively’ and ‘bouncy’. and you know you wil love this!

Baked Cod Fish with Oat (RM 130 per kg) was appealing. It was quite a unique way to serve the cod fish with oat. Especially the sauce, it was creamy and tangy. The sauce itself can definitely draw your stomach a few bowl of rice.

Wok Fried Rice with Pumpkin Cubes (RM 40 for large serving) was something I love. I always love dishes with pumpkin in it. The rice was fluffy and fragrant and fried with wok hei. Additional of pumpkin cubes enhanced the sweetness and it brings the lovely and appealing colour to the whole dish.

It’s the time to get your hands dirty!!!

We were lucky enough to get to try their well-known Butter Crab (RM53-60 per kg). Look at the crab, they were super huge to ‘swim’ in ‘fitting’ whitish plate.

They are so meaty and the claws are gigantic in size! It was so fingers-licking good!

The crabbies were coated with thick creamy and buttery sauce. The sauce was best with fried or steamed bun

The fried buns / steamed buns (RM 6 for 12 pieces)

Next was the Salted Egg Yolk Crab. The crab was overloaded with the salted egg yolk. This dry version of crabs had over votes. We couldn’t stop ourselves from slurping over the crab. Once again, it was so fingers licking good!

Last but not least, we were served with the desserts --- Chilled Honey Dew with Avocado and Aloe Vera. It was a very refreshing dessert after dinner. However, this is prepared upon request. If you wish to try this out, do make a reservation before heading to Bangsar Seafood Garden Restaurant.

Bangsar Seafood Garden Restaurant
One Bangsar,
No. 63, Jalan Ara,
Bangsar Baru,
59100 Kuala Lumpur.
Tel: 03-22822555
Fax: 03-22844827
Business hours:
Lunch: 12 pm to 2.30pm
Dinner: 6pm to 10.30pm

Click on BSCG website for more details and reservation.

More reviews:

KampungBoyCityGal
Vkeong

Memorable Birthday 09 Part 3: Mini Uhu! hu! from The Loaf @ Pavilion KL

Continue from Memorable Birthday 09 Part 2: Kampachi @ Pavilion KL

*Note: this is a 7-month-ago story*

It was after the birthday lunch at Kampachi, both my best-ies spent me the Cheesy-licious Cup Cakes, the Mini U-hu-hu from The Loaf. The mini cheese cakes’ texture was soft and fluffy, light and flavourful. It’s so U HU HU! Now I realize why they named it as Uhu! hu! Cheese cake.

I am not a big fan of durians and I don’t take durian since young. However, both my best-ies ‘forced ‘me to try a forkful of Durian Cheese Cake which they claimed it was great.

My-Oh-My, I have to say sorry because I really can’t take the heavy Durian stink that wouldn’t go away. No matter how much peppermint fresh spray I sprayed, the horrible smell never run off. Ew…. That was quite an oh-so-different experience I had on my birthday.

Dear both best-ies, I don’t take Durian. Please, no more next round of Durian, k?

.
The Loaf Kuala Lumpur
Lot 3.13.00 & 4.12.02,
Level 3 & Level 4,
Pavilion Kuala Lumpur,
168, Jalan Bukit Bintang,
55100 Kuala Lumpur.
Tel: 03-21453036
Fax: 03-21453034
Web: www.theloaf.net

Memorable Birthday 09 Part 2: Kampachi @ Pavilion KL

Continue from Memorable Birthday 09 Part 1: Memorable Birthday 09 Part 1: Full House @ NZX

*Note: this is a 7-month-ago story*

On the Real day, I had the birthday celebration with Wen Ching and Ting Fang. Finally, I have some time to look through my archive and select photos to write about it. This year’s birthday is the most memorable one I have ever had. My friends gave me all big surprises.

The first gang who gave me the surprises is the Murnian Best-ies --- Yen, Khee and Christine (though she was not here, her present was here). The Nadeja’s Mille Crepe travelled all the way from Malacca to KL.

My Birthday Cake from Nadeja’s

The cake was made of layers and layers of thin French crepe inter-spread with milky soft cream and chocolate. The sinful chocolate and crème mille crepe cake was something heart alluring and irresistible.
