It was a unique and special dining experience I had where they have performances such as dancing, singing and musical play played by the pretty Korean waitress themselves. Glad that aunt dragged me along. This dinner wasn’t just an ordinary dinner. It enhanced my knowledge on North Korean’s tradition and cultures.
As this was a back dated post, I wasn’t too sure with the name for every dish. I will try my best to name / identify them; and I will allow the photos do the talking.
The restaurant itself filled up with Koreans on the night I dined in. Only us, the Malaysians sat on a long table.
Glass noodles
The mushrooms Stirred fried style – it was quite similar to what we had in Chinese cuisine.
Steamed fish
Stewed chicken
The potato pancakes. You are given a few fresh – carrot, cucumbers, tamago (omelet) slices and meat slices. What you have to do is: wrap up a little of each fresh with the pancake.
Kimchi
Mimic the Chinese 狮子头but this was in a soupy version
Bibimpap – the hot piping one.
An alcoholic drink that similar to the Japanese sake. However, this is made by the mushrooms, I guess.
Never end a meal without Dessert(s):
Glutinous Rice Cake with something inside.
The Glutinous Rice Cake with Honey. Love the sweet and chewy desserts.
At near 9pm, there were karaoke session and performances by the pretty waitresses themselves. They dress up to dance, sing and play different kind of instruments.
I find North Korean Cuisine is slightly different than Korean Cuisine where North Korean Cuisine is quite similar to or fusion with the Chinese Cuisine. Like the glass noodles, stewed chicken, stirred fried mushrooms and the soup version of meat balls, they are light and not spicy, not oily, not greasy, no colorants.
A great place for an extraordinary dining experience!
