Hummingbirds Coffee Bar @ Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar
Oh... It's Monday, again.
Weekend always comes and goes fast.
I am sure most of you are having Monday blue now...
Let's cheer up the day with something sweet here ^^
I was here on one lazy Sunday for an afternoon tete-a-tete with my bestie; seated in one corner and lying lazily into the comfy high-back sofa.
Hummingbirds Coffee Bar is a cozy little cafe tucked inside Beatrice Looi's boutique at Jalan Telawi 3.
We had 2 sets of The Day's Special (RM 16 per set). Each set comes with a cup of tea or coffee and a slice of cake listed or choice of 2 cupcakes.
Orange Tea
Long Black Coffee
Hummingbird cake's texture was quite similar to the carrot cake; with banana, pineapple and walnuts (I guess) set in it, creating a moist and dense and intense with flavours. The touch-up was a layer of dense cream cheese frosting. We both love the Hummingbird cake and we find that it is quite value for money for this huge piece of cake.
Since we were not interested with their ordinary-looking American chocolate cake, we had their cupcakes instead. R
Red Velvet cup cake came in very bright red. Again, it was touched up with the same dense cream cheese frosting. The cake itself was dense, very smooth and velvety. However, it left a stinging feeling on my tongue and a kind of light bitter aftertaste on my friend's.
We too were introduced with the Lemon cupcake. The sourish from the lemon was okay but we were kind of disappointed with it as the cake was on the drier side. Cupcake is priced at RM 6.50 per pcs.
Colourful Macarons.
Wasabi flavoured macaron was something exotic. The macaron was not sugary sweetl the filling was smooth and creamy. It was not very spicy but just a nice short hint of sharp wasabi essence. RM 5/pc or RM 27 for 6 pieces. Kinda pricey though.
Hope these can sweeten up your Monday :)
